“While I’m proud of the progress we’ve made, I’m keenly aware that there is more work to do. I would like to continue the effort to provide our 64,000 students the world-class education they deserve. This begins with providing our 8,000 educators with the tools and support they need in the classroom.”
In December of 2014, she was appointed to the Washoe County School District Board of Trustees, becoming the first African American to serve in that capacity. In January of 2016, she was elected Board President by her colleagues and followed by being elected by the citizens in District E to serve a full four-year term, beginning in January 2017. Her colleagues selected her to serve a second term as president through 2017.
When not involved with the WCSD, Dr. Angie is the President and Chief Executive Officer for Guardian Quest, Inc., an organization specializing in providing diversity/inclusion, leadership and organizational development training and consulting solutions for educational, governmental, corporate and military clients across North America. In addition to her work speaking, training and coaching, she remains committed to her role as a School Board Trustee. Angie believes that since education changed her life, it is her duty to work to provide the best educational opportunities for every child in the Washoe County School District. She considers it an honor to serve.
